Many people aim to obtain a U.S. credit card, and a local U.S. bank account is essential. Chase Bank is a leading U.S. credit card issuer, making it an excellent choice.

Before visiting a branch, prepare:

  • Proof of identity (passport)
  • Proof of U.S. address (bank statement, utility bill, or mobile bill — Chase typically does not accept credit card statements)
  • At least $1,500 in cash or check for deposit

Visit a Chase branch and request to open both a Checking Account (daily transactions) and Savings Account (interest and tax/ITIN purposes). Register for online banking after account setup.

Maintain a good account record to build a strong relationship with Chase. After obtaining an SSN or ITIN, you can apply for Chase credit cards.
